Cebu lechon restaurant forced to close
A popular Cebu lechon restaurant has been forced to close its two outlets by local government officials.
Rico’s lechon restaurants were locked up when visited by ABS-CBN News reporters. A sign hung across the entrance to one by government officials said the branches were closed for continuing without a permit, despite two warnings.
But Rico’s said on its website that while it acknowledged the notice from the government officials, it had been processing the paperwork when the closure notice was issued.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said Rico’s was operating without a business permit and he may not allow the eateries to reopen..
“Once you have a violation, you have a violation. So don’t think that all you need to do is just to comply. No,” he was quoted in the SunStar Cebu newspaper.
Rico’s owner, Rico Dionson, who could not be reached for comment, clearly had a different view, saying the requirements for the issue of the permit had been “duly received by the designated local office or department prior to the notice”.
