Go Lokal! to open first store outside Manila
Local retail concept store Go Lokal! will open outside of Manila for the first time in its new Cebu premises this September.
The store, which showcases local products made by micro- to medium-sized businesses, will be installed in the new wing of Ayala Center Cebu. Plans are also in the works for a second Cebu location at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Department of Trade and Industry director Asteria Caberte said the Cebu store will highlight Filipino export-quality, high-end products. She added that the principal target market consists of tourists, balikbayans and affluent members of society.
The products on sale go through an extensive product development process with specialists from the Philippines Design Center to prepare them for the retail, export, and souvenir sectors.
The DTI recently signed with Shopinas and Air 21 to trade Go Lokal! products online. A Go Lokal! microsite will be available on Shopinas for buyers, and purchases will be delivered through Air 21.
