Ortigas & Co. breaks ground for Greenhills mall
Property developer Ortigas & Co. has broken ground for a seven-storey regional mall that will be the centrepiece of the Greenhills shopping complex, which is undergoing a PHP60 billion redevelopment.
Ortigas is investing PHP6.3 billion for the San Juan City mall, which will be home for about 150 global lifestyle brands and 2000 bazaar or “tiangge” stalls. Its first phase will have a gross floor area (GFA) of more than 100,000sqm and three basement parking levels with 1300 slots.
When complete, the 16ha Greenhills estate redevelopment will have about 1 million square meters GFA, says Ortigas president/CEO Jaime Ysmael. Total GFA at the regional mall will also expand to 281,000sqm.
Underground access to the basement parking areas will be built, and after 2022 the company will also create a boulevard to improve connectivity with the surrounding road network.
Ortigas VP and Ortigas Malls GM Renee Bacani says the new mall will be the “crown jewel” of the estate, and the company will continue to support local entrepreneurs and act as a retail incubator for up-and-coming businesses.
Meanwhile, the mall will have a range of restaurants, novel food concepts, a budget-friendly food court and an upscale food hall. There will also be four prestige and two regular cinemas to complement the existing offering in Promenade. Overall, F&B will account for 40 per cent of retail space.
Ortigas is also shaping the mall to become a hub for wellness, with more open space, as well as clinics and gyms for Greenhills residents and shoppers.
