Rico’s Lechon plans Manila foray
Cebu-based restaurant chain Rico’s Lechon is to open nine branches in Manila.
The new locations – positioned to effect a wide coverage of the capital – will be managed by Meat Concepts Corp, which acquired the brand last month. MC’s president George N. Pua said: “We want to be able to have Cebuanos take pride in sharing [Rico’s Lechon] with the rest of the country, and eventually the world”.
Lechon is a suckling pig dish popular throughout the Philippines, but often considered to be a Cebu specialty. A number of Cebu chains serving the cuisine have already opened in Manila.
Rico’s Lechon has operated in Cebu for more than 20 years, although its local stores have been shuttered since last year for failing to secure business permits.
